I just spent like 3 hours doing my taxes. For part of that time my dogs were running suicide laps through the house, Petunia baying at the top of her lungs. I thought, damn I wish I could claim them. I'll admit it just once. I have 5 dogs and 8 cats. That doesn't include the rescues also currently staying here. That's a lot of dog food. I figure close to 200lbs a month right now. And cat food, cat litter, dog treats, bones, paper towels, wee wee pads, bleach, fill dirt, laundry etc. I love it, I'm not complaining (well a little). It takes a lot of time and even more money but I wouldn't have it any other way. I've spent thousands at my vet alone this year. And the majority of that is at cost. That doesn't include the stuff she did for free and other vets have donated for free.
All that said I spent a bit of the past few hours thinking how nice it would be if I could deduct some of that expense. I might be able to go out for a steak once and a while. Or replace that couch the cats ate. It is being proposed, a 3500$ credit for pet(s). I thought that was amazing... then I got to thinking about it.
I see the neglect, ignorance & abuse mankind heaps on what it considers "lesser beings". Its why I do what I do. I also see what happens to the neglected, impoverished children. Kids kept around for the welfare check and other government assistance and credit. I think animals will suffer the same fate if allowed to be a deduction. Get a free or cheap pet, spend $100 getting the required stuff to prove its yours and your 3500$ tax credit can live in the yard and be fed when you think about it. Better yet you can just turn it loose or kill it once you've gotten your monies worth. I think the pet deductible is a bad bad idea. I'd rather keep working 2 jobs and 50 hours a week and buying dog food before groceries if it would save even one life.
Beside that, his whole proposal looks like a joke....

Thoughts on today
Who needs flowers? When I got home today my dogs greeted me with a chewed stick, the stuffing from something, my sock, my mascara and the ear from a stuffed bunny. What more could someone ask for?
I also need to know why a juice box is harder to open than a wine bottle?

the 3 stooges
or more like 7 right now... wow yes there are 7 dogs in my house. Thankfully 4 of them weigh less than the cats, though 2 are as big as small elephants.
Anyway, back to whatever I was going to blog about. It was a tad chilly last night so I decided all the dogs should wear their T shirts to bed. Well except Moses, he loves this weather and has dug 3 new caves in the backyard to live in, but that's a different story. Thankfully I had a small obsession with buying dog clothes for a while and had one to fit everyone. I dug out an old men's L T shirt for Pilgrim.
I guess this is what kids do to their clothes, who knows. Jelly was totally naked in 30 min, its hard to cloth something whose limbs bend like rubber & can slide in or out of anything. Brie woke me up at 2am with her leg caught in the neck of the shirt in her attempt to take it off. Petunia went outside at about 7am and rolled in something in her nice pink shirt. Veruca was wearing her's like a skirt.
Then comes Pilgrim. Moses, he and Petunia were playing tug of war with his shirt. It was still on him, mostly. Apparently he enjoyed the advantage of wearing it while the others pulled. I was laughing too hard to get a pic.
It is apparently an object of desire now as they are playing keep away....
I'm taking them to work with me today, I'm afraid for my house if I leave them alone

Petunia has a sleep over
So today I took a little boston puppy from the petstore over to the specialist because she has a heart murmur (now she needs $ to figure out what is wrong). Anyway we had her behind the front desk and Tooney just LOVED her so I took her home for the night. Figured it would be good for Tooney since she is on restriction from the big dogs due to her recent leg surgery. I dosed her up on pain meds tonight because she has been extra active today. Here are some pictures of the results of her sleepover. I just moved her head and she is actually drooling ON the couch. I guess it is better than her new friend who pooped on my super special hand made tree skirt....
I really might need to get a life...
